Testing gouache paints
Over the past month, I have been using gouache paints during my personal drawing and painting time and have really enjoyed the change to my usual watercolour set, I really like the thick and thin textures it can create and how easy it is to mix colours.
So I have been experimenting today with creating protraits of Flora and testing limited colour palettes, similar to my paper tests a couple of weeks ago.
These are two scans from my sketchbook, on the right I have a most realistic complex painting of Flora and on the left I created two more basic renderings of her with limited colour palettes. I wanted to see if I could take the recognisable colours of the suffragette movement and use them in areas of my project as a sort of tribute to all suffragettes as well as Flora.
