Today, aside from working on my animated scenes today, I also did some more experimental work with collaging, specfically with coloured paper, paints and pencils. I don't like to waste paper or any materials, so I wanted to somehow rework the leftover pieces of coloured paper I had from earlier in the project. I really enjoyed the process of just letting go and make quick decisions about the colours I used and the placement of everything. I t was very relaxing, so I thought I
I have anaimted just over half the film at this point in time and currently on the scene which involves Flora standing on top of a mountain which overlooks Arran. I like this scene a lot and it has been going well so far as the animate isn't too challenging and the design is nice. I want to add more line texture to the final design of the landscape, so I explored the use of cross hatching in my sketchbook, which I like a lot. I translated this over to photoshop too. I did thi
I wanted to try to add a tiny lipsync to my film, so I did. My notes from the scene. ^^^ Here's the very rough and quick line paper test I did before hand. I quite like how it looks, and it translated well into the film.
After speaking to both some of the members of staff and my peers, I think I may need to make some changes to the film. The scene which shows the Isle of Arran from a sort of bird's eye view and in map form seems to have confused everyone and isn't as recognisable as I thought it was. So I could just add in a sign, or wite on top the word 'ARRAN' like a little signpost or something, or perhaps the Scottish flag? I am not sure, I need to figure this out quickly. There are examp
As this film will be my 1st proper 2d digitally animated major project (aside from 10X10 from Feb) I had a lot of inspo and ideas that came from other amazing films, and I thought I should mention them here. 1st. Breakbot's 'Another you' I have L O V E D this music video ever since I first watched it the day it came out. I love the use of vibrant colour and lineless art. Lineless art was something I wanted to explore with this project, however I wasn't really able to do that.
Today was a pretty unproductive today as I have hit a mental block with the aniamation, but I am trying to stay positive and I ended up doing some fun drawings. From all the feedback I have heard from the staff and my peers, everyone seemed to like my single line drawings the most and because I used to do them all the time back on Foundation, I thought that perhaps I could revisit the concept for a couple of quick sketches of Flora. Although the drawings are not good, it felt
I have been trying to decide whether or not I should use real morse code messages in my film, or to not do that. I think it could add another layer of understanding on my part, in the life and struggles of suffragettes in prison. But I may just be overthinking the situation and the meaning I have placed on it. Here are some examples of real morse code messages that I was playing around with. I'm still not sure how I will proceed with this.
Today i explored whether or not I should add in a paper texture background to my film to combat the boring plain white background i am using at the moment. I like the idea of this because it can bring a new layer of animation or movement, if I later decide to work with the paper. Here's a scan from my sketchbook: I much pefer the ripped and balled up paper to the flat paper, and I also think it would work much better with my style of animation compared to the other. As you ca
Should I add colour? I did some tests to find out. In my sketchbook I created this little storyboard to help me plan out how I want the colours to move across the screen. Next, I added all the colours onto layers in photoshop to see how it might look if I were to actually use this concept in the film. To save time I only use the colour green, but if I were to actually use this concept in the film then I would add all the other colours too. Here was my original concept for the
